British weather, in all its unreliability, is the single most unchanging factor in its impact on consumer behaviour, MCA’s The Conversation has heard. Speaking at the event, MCA contributing editor Peter Martin told attendees that in his ten years of operating the Coffer Peach Business Tracker – a sector sales tracker produced by CGA in association with The Coffer Group and RSM – “the weather is the one thing that hasn’t changed over the years.”

NewsFulham Shore - sales around 72% on previous year
Fulham Shore has released a trading update and announced a fundraise as it looks to fight its way though the coronavirus crisis. It said it has 49 out of 51 Franco Manca sites open, and 14 out of 18 Real Greek restaurants open, and though social distancing means they are only operating at between 60-70% of their previous capacity, this has “to some extent” been compensated by an increase in delivery and takeaway sales. It said in the four weeks since 6 July, like-for-like restaurant sales at reopened sites were around 72% year on year.

NewsFulham Shore reports hike in sales and lift in profits
Fulham Shore, which operates Franco Manca and The Real Greek, has said sales were up 9.3% to £36m for the six months ended 29 September 2019. Pre-tax profits were £1.4m, compared to a £0.1m loss the previous year. It opened six Franco Manca sites and one Real Greek site during the period, and has also opened one of each since September. It now has 51 Franco Manca sites and 18 Real Greek sites.
