The virus has created a level of disruption to health, society, and the economy that’s never happened before, outside of wartime. And while there is plenty of speculation on how life in general may get back to normal post-lockdown, with vaguely optimistic or pessimistic dates floating around, there is no clarity on how or when this might end.

NewsSunak needs to Super-Size it
The government has put the hospitality industry into limbo, and limbo is a terrible place to be. Yesterday, the PM warned the British public against visiting pubs, restaurants, theatres and bars across the country. NewsPressure, power and positivity
Not to be overly optimistic, and perhaps it’s just the inevitable emergence from a lengthy and brutal period of rationalisation and consolidation, but things appear to be looking up. Admittedly the upticks predicted for 2020 are tiny, like 1% growth for casual dining and a 0.3% acceleration for food to go. But after the carnage of the last couple of years, positive news, however slight, will come as welcome news for the operators that skilfully navigated their way through it.
