Roadchef has vowed to carry on serving food on the nation’s road network, despite the loss of McDonald’s and Costa Coffee.

CEO Mark Fox said the service station operator’s unique safety role in the roads meant it was able to keep trading, albeit takeaway only.

He said McDonald’s decision to close nationwide meant Roadchef could no longer operate the 29 units, but added the group was looking to get logistical support to continue to run some of the Costa units.

Fox said: “We will continue to operate our other retail and catering brands for as long as we possibly can to ensure a 24 hour a day service for those that need it.”

Roadchef also has Leon, Krispy Kreme and Chozen Noodle concessions.
