Domino’s Pizza has taken pork off its menu and is offering halal only food for the first time ever, it has been revealed. The store in Hall Green, Birmingham, offers halal pizzas that have been cooked in accordance with Islamic law. It offers spicy beef sausage, halal pepperoni and halal cured-turkey. A spokesman for the chain said: “We appreciate we cannot please everybody but there alternatives, such as turkey ham.” For meat to be deemed halal, the animal must have been killed by having its throat cut by a Muslim and its blood completely drained. Masood Khawaja, president of the Halal Food Authority, said: “It’s good news for Muslims, with changing palates, who want a bit of variety in their diet. This is only the beginning.”
