Brown-Forman has spent $1m (£572,000) to create what it calls the first low carbohydrate wine in the US.
The Kentucky vintners will spend another $5m (£2.86m) to advertise it in the weeks ahead.
The product is expected to come on sale by June 1 selling for $9.95 (£5.69) a bottle at retail. The Chardonnay variety will be called One.6 and the Merlot One.9 to drive home the number of grams of carbohydrates in the wines.
