North East faces curfew
Pubs and restaurants could be subject to an arbitrary 10pm curfew in North-East England this weekend as areas including Newcastle, Sunderland and County Durham are due to be put under new local lockdown measures. Although the extent of the restrictions are yet to be confirmed, it is understood that alongside the curfew, measures could also include a ban on mixing between households, and people being encouraged to avoid using public transport for non-essential journeys.

September footfall on the up
Footfall across the UK continued to grow this month despite the conclusion of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme, according to Wireless Social. The Wi-Fi solutions provider’s latest footfall tracker revealed that for the first two weeks in September (recorded Saturday 5 and 12 September), footfall was 40% down on pre-lockdown levels, 3% higher than Saturday 29 August.
