Yorkshire brewer Michael Theakston died on September 8, aged 79.
An obituary in The Times says Theakstons’ rollercoaster ride has "echoed the fortunes of the entire traditional British brewing industry".
Matthew Brown took over the company in 1984 which, in turn, Scottish and Newcastle swallowed before becoming Scottish Courage. Michael Theakston became a director of Scottish Courage. Theakstons demerged from Scottish Courage earlier this year and is now back in family hands.
