Tonkotsu, the ramen restaurant group, is to close its high-end concept Anzu at St James’ Market, MCA’s sister title Big Hospitality reports.

The restaurant launched as a more high-end Asian concept in late 2016, but converted to its parent brand as a Tonkotsu ‘ramen residency’ since January 2018.

Tonkotsu wrote on its Facebook page: “Sadly, all good things must come to an end. Our 1-year Tonkotsu Ramen Residency at Anzu St James’s Market will be closing on Wednesday 30th January.

“Up for grabs are some of the restaurant’s tables, light ttings, bar stools and other bits.”

Tonkotsu is the second operator to leave the £400m St James’ market development, which launched near Piccadilly Circus in 2016.

Salt Yard Group closed its Italian restaurant Veneta just over a year after opening at the scheme.

The closure of Anzu will leave Tonkotsu with nine ramen restaurants in London, and one in Selfridges Birmingham.
