The Subway sandwich chain franchisee Deirdre Anderson opened its 19th outlet in the UK last week, in Wigan. Accounts for her company, Made to Order, show sales last year rose 90% to just under £5m although it is still to make a profit. She is the largest UK franchisee for Subway, which expects to have 400 outlets by the end of the year here. Its short-term goal is 2010 stores by the end of 2010 in the UK and Ireland. It expects 5,000 10 years later. The chain has 21,052 shops in 74 countries. The Sunday Telegraph (Business) 25/06/04 page 7
