Parisian tea house Mariage Freres is to open its first UK standalone shop in London’s King Street.

The company, which was founded in Paris in 1854 by brothers Henri and Edouard Mariage, currently has its tea served at Claridge’s, but will open its first tea house in the UK later this year.

Its café and store with occupy a 8,000sq ft site.

The company operates over 30 Mariage Frères points-of-sale within France, Germany and Japan.

There are four Mariage Frères tearooms in Paris, plus a tea emporium.

The brand is also distributed through a network of resellers in over 60 countries and served in hotels such as the Meurice in Paris, Claridge’s in London and the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Bangkok.
