Ei Publican Partnerships has adopted a Category Management Tool which it claims is “ground-breaking” and “an industry first”.

The software evaluates individual pubs’ draught beer range and recommends how the range and price could be optimised based on several variables.

These include local area customer demographic, target market offer, market data, predicted and actual volume information and the local knowledge of the publican and regional manager.

The hope is that all its pubs will review their drinks offering using the tool within the next six months.

Spirits, wine and soft drinks will be added in the “near future”.

Ei Group said the tool would help publicans raise pub standards, help them to identify new opportunities to generate profits and enhance the existing process they used to deliver “the right product, in the right category at the right price to customers”.

EiG commercial director Paul Harbottle said: “We are constantly striving to find new and innovative ways to support the hard work of our publicans and to help them grow their businesses.

“The Category Management Tool will give publicans the enhanced level of insight they need to keep improving their customer offer and generate increased profits. We believe this industry-leading tool will be a game-changer for our publicans all over the UK.”

The tool is currently accessible using Windows but it would become accessible on Apple devices “in the next couple of weeks”, the company said.
