Food experts, speaking at a European Union summit on obesity in Copenhagen last week, called on Governments to insist fast-food companies put health-warnings on high-fat food.

Amanda Sexton, whose 10-year-old son Lawrence is obese, branded the aggressive marketing of fast food “a modern evil”.

She decried the fast food chains “on every corner” and “countless adverts” on television and in magazines.

US doctors are appalled by a new US sport which involves stuffing down the most food in a fixed time from hotdogs to chicken wings.

The International Federation of Competitive Eating has established itself and the Fox network has a television special called The Glutton Bowl.
