Legal & General Ventures is poised to buy Tragus Holdings, owner of Café Rouge and Bella Italia, for £80-£90m.
Tragus is believed to be on course to make an operating profit of £13m-£15m this year, compared with £9.4m last time.
Tragus chief executive Finlay Scott stands to make millions of pounds from the deal. He owned 680,000 shares, or some 54% of Tragus’s 1.25m ordinary shares as of last May.
