Red Hot World Buffet, the Risk Capital Partners backed buffet group, has temporarily closed its Liverpool One restaurant following a visit from environmental health officers, the Liverpool Echo reports.

The restaurant displayed a sign yesterday stating it had closed for “unforeseen maintenance” issues following the routine inspection following concerns of “general cleanliness in all four of its kitchens”.

A spokesman for Liverpool City Council said: “During a routine inspection there were several areas of concern in terms of hygiene and general cleanliness.

“We informed the operators and they voluntarily offered to shut the premises.

“They are carrying out a deep clean and once this has been completed environmental health officers will return to the premises and carry out another inspection.”

The restaurant, which opened in 2009, is one of seven UK Red Hot World Buffet sites including Nottingham, Manchester, Leicester, Leeds, Milton Keynes and Cardiff.
