Pizza Rossa, the crowd-funded fast-food concept, has revealed it is close to finalising on three sites in the City with its first pop-up due to open in May and plans to operate 12 within five years.

The pizza concept has been started by Corrado Accardi, an Italian born chartered engineer who has raised £440k through crowd-funding to begin his start up.

Accardi raised the money in 17 days from just 100 people, which has broken the European record for a start-up through equity-based crowd-funding.

”Pizza Rossa will be aimed at time-poor city workers, offering a delicious and healthier product, easy to eat on the go, conveniently available and served quickly – 90 seconds from ordering to eating it piping hot,” said Accardi.

The concept will elevate pizza from an unhealthy option to a high quality meal in the ‘grab-and-go’ lunchtime market.

Pizza Rossa plans to create at least 15 jobs in the next few months and run at least 12 outlets within five years.

The concept’s business plan won the annual London Business School Business Plan Competition and was ranked runner up in the European finals against the best European business schools.
