Gondola Group, the 626-strong casual dining firm, has unveiled a new look for its ASK restaurant chain. The firm, which is led by Harvey Smyth and backed by Cinven, the private equity house, has launched “Ask Italian” at London’s Paddington and unveiled a second next-generation restaurant at Solihull in the Midlands. Smyth said: “It’s light, bright and modern and we’ve worked hard on the food. It’s designed to be a very accessible but delicious Italian. "We’ve broadened the offer a bit more, though we’ve still got staples like carbonara and spaghetti on the menu, albeit they’re totally different.” The move means that the group is revamping all three of its core brands – alongside ASK it is also reworking Pizza Express and Zizzi. It recently launched a new look Pizza Express at London’s Richmond. The Zizzi remodelling is more advanced with 40 restaurants now featuring the updated look and offer.
