A tiny proportion of operators (2%) believe the hospitality industry has been a “major source” for rising rates of coronavirus, Lumina Intelligence’s Hospitality Leaders Poll reveals.

A slim majority (51%) believe the industry’s contribution to rising infection rates is “negligible”.

Meanwhile just under a third of those polled (31%) said the industry had “somewhat” contributed to rising rates.

A majority of leaders (61%) said the industry was going backwards following the buoyant summer mood of Eat Out to Help Out.

Confidence was down 10 percentage points in the week commencing 21 September, with just 58% saying they were confident about the future of their business.

Lumina Intelligence polled 262 hospitality leaders on behalf of MCA, Big Hospitality and the Morning Advertiser.
