Punch Taverns has been given an award for its employee share scheme, which was introduced last year. The pub company won an award at the ProShare Awards for Most Effective Communication of an Employee Share Plan. The award recognised the company that best communicated its employee share plan and encouraged participation. Punch was nominated by Halliwell Integra, the company that implemented the scheme on behalf of Punch to its staff of over 500 people. More than half of the Punch workforce has taken a stake in the company, taking advantage of an introductory buy one get one free offer, compared to an average of 30% for similar company schemes. Punch customer service director Francis Patton said: "We are thrilled to have won this award as communicating the scheme effectively was a priority. Our primary concern was to ensure everyone within the business not only knew about the share incentive plan but understood the benefits of taking a stake in the company." ProShare is a non-profit organisation that aims to promote share ownership and financial education to a wider audience.
