Pubs of Distinction has acquired its fourth London-based venue as it continues to grow its portfolio of ‘local beer houses’.
The group, which acquired The Constitution in Camden from Enterprise Inns and vacating landlady Wendy Clare, confirmed the canal-side premises was the first of three new pubs it hoped to operate this year.
Currently trading in its original format, the property will close down for an extensive refurbishment before re-opening later in the year, Pubs of Distinction operating director Phil Strongman told M&C Report’s sister title Big Hospitality.
The business adopted the same approach when it acquired and re-developed three other London pubs; the Hack & Hop in the City of London in 2013, the Old Red Cow in Smithfield in 2011 and the Dean Swift in Butler’s Wharf in 2010.
Each follows a ‘local beer house’ concept, in which flavoursome craft beer is served in a relaxed environment alongside a menu of creative and seasonal foods.
“This is a fantastic pub to get in the group,” Strongman said.
“We will now undertake a study of the site, its potential and how best to help push the project forward to assure The Constitution is an important local pub in the Camden community.”
The company also announced the appointment of a new area manager -Alex McNeil will join the company in early February from All Star Lanes.
