The pub company mediation process is still set to continue as the parties involved consult their members over the discussed reforms. The talks between pub companies, trade bodies and anti-tie campaign group, which are being led by barrister Michael Kallipetis, were supposed to have been finalised yesterday in a binding agreement. A statement from the meeting said: "The mediation process is still continuing. All the parties are pursuing their discussions and now need to revert to their members on a number of issues. "Because they are still in mediation, the parties continue to be bound by the terms of the Mediation Agreement, which obliges them to preserve the confidentiality of the process. "For this reason no-one is at liberty to discuss the issues which have been the subject of the mediation, and this will enable all the parties to consult with their members, and each other on a constructive basis." The pub industry is looking to reach an agreement to put an end to the need for a full Competition Commission inquiry on the beer tie and pub company power.
