Pub People Co has taken on its eighth site through Star Pubs & Bars, as it looks to expand its Six Barrel Drafthouse concept.

It will begin a £280k joint refurbishment of Keoghs in Nottingham city centre next week, with a view to reopening it as its second Six Barrel operation in September.

The 60-strong operator said it was looking to open further Six Barrel Drafthouse – its craft beer and draught ale pub concept – in major towns and cities in the East Midlands over the next three years.

The interior of Keoghs will be given a modern industrial look, highlighting the building’s features, with exposed brick walls, steel beams and wooden floors. A first-floor terrace will be added with capacity for 50, as well as a new pergola at the front of the building.

The pub will also serve food for the first time, from breakfast through to dinner. Six craft beers and six cask ales will be served on rotation, including an ale from the local Pentrich brewery.

Andy Crawford, operations director for Pub People Co, said: “We opened our first Six Barrel Drafthouse in Hockley in 2016 and it has proved very successful. As a result, we’re keen to roll it out where the local demographics and individual pubs lend themselves to the concept.

“We’ve got a good working relationship with Star Pubs & Bars, who are flexible and responsive, so intend taking on more sites with them over the next few years.”

Alun Johnson, operations director at Star Pubs & Bars, added: “We’re delighted to be working with The Pub People Company again. They’re great operators and one of the longest standing pub companies in the Midlands.

“I feel sure Keoghs will be another success story for them and wish them well with the planned roll out of Six Barrel Drafthouse.”
