Stephen Thomas, founder of Britain’s largest nightclub group Luminar, is making his return to the late-night sector with a new bar and nightclub business.
Britain’s managed pub, restaurant and bar groups saw sales drop just 1% in June from the same month in 2019, according to the Coffer CGA Business Tracker boosted by good weather.
Travel hub operator SSP has simplified its menus by up to 50-60% during the pandemic, which could result in smaller menus remaining post-covid, according to an analysts’ note by Peel Hunt.

The group has just opened its 36th site, The Rose Inn in Wokingham, following a £2.1m restoration and redesign project, with another 11 sites due to open before the end of 2023.
The late-night sector has struggled to fill vacancies since it reopened in July after many people left the industry due to the prolonged shutdown period during the pandemic.
The South West brewer and pub operator has reported an underlying operating loss of £2.9m for the full year 2020.
