JD Wetherspoon, the managed pub operator, has said it plans to invest £15m opening 12 pubs by the end of next March. Three are to open before Christmas - in Halifax, Poynton and Rutherglen. This will followed by openings in Beccles, Crook, Kirkby-in-Ashfield and Lymington in February. In the following month the firm will open in Bingham, Deal, Fakenham, Selby and Whitby. Jon Randall, Wetherspoon’s head of property development and acquisitions, said: “We are confident that the new pubs will appeal to a cross-section of people.”
