Hugh Osmond, the businessman who helped to create Pizza Express and Punch Taverns, is planning to float an investment vehicle on the London Stock Exchange to front a takeover deal worth up to £5bn.
Osmond is hoping to raise £500m for the vehicle, named Horizon, which is targeting big businesses bought in private equity-backed deals that have turned sour.
He is looking at a number of opportunities, with one option being the restructuring of bookmaker and bingo hall operator Gala Coral.
