Bruce Gray, former managing director of BrewDog’s bar division, has secured the site of the first Las Iguanas in Bristol for a new craft beer bar under his Big Beer Company venture, M&C Report has learnt.
The site on St Nicholas Street, which most recently operated as the Day+Night club, is to open as Small Bar in July.
Big Beer Company also operates a beer distribution facility in Bristol and Gray said: “The aim in a couple of years will be to hopefully expand to Cardiff and London.
“My intention is to build a quality small business that’s not something we can aggressively grow that I can make a living from, and have a life!
“The name [Small Bar] is a reminder to me over the coming years that this is never just to be something that’s massive. It’s something small and quality-driven rather than turnover-driven.”
As well as previously heading BrewDog’s growing bars division, Gray co-founded a separate beer important and export business called Craft Centric, which also offers a consultancy and branding-building service for brewers.
