Coffee Republic has opened a new flagship store on London’s Tottenham Court Road. Coffee Republic chief executive Tariq Affara described the opening as a “milestone” in the brand’s expansion in the UK, following its emergence from administration last year. “Every new opening is exciting for us as we roll out our new look bars across the country, but this is our flagship bar and marks our return to the heart of the capital,” said Affra. “The brand now has a very different look and feel which has achieved our aim of being warm and welcoming with a contemporary edge. We remain true to the core essence of the Coffee Republic brand and sell only coffee that is genuinely roasted in Milan. We have greatly improved our food offering and will continue to invest heavily in the ambience of our bars to set a new standard for coffee retailers everywhere.” Last month the company launched its first bar in Doncaster, which followed other recent openings in Newton Abbot, Eastleigh, Hove (which was the first store to feature the company’s new Conran & Partners store design) and Rochester Row in London. In November it signed a franchise agreement to opens its coffee shops in Cyprus. The deal with the Terra Group, a local real estate and financial service group, will see 15 stores open across key locations shortly, and follows a similar deal in South Africa.
