Tom Davies, chief executive of Brakspear, has told M&C the company is looking at the possibility of operating a brand within its managed estate.

Davies said current growth was opportunistic with premium sites being acquired and pubs converted from the tenanted estate when appropriate.

However, he told M&C that operating a “less premium offer” across a chain of sites could allow the managed portfolio to grow quicker.

He said: “It’s something we’re looking at but it would be site dependent.

“Our current managed model is more upmarket. If we were to extend that we would have to start looking at a less premium offer. Perhaps that might look like a brand that we could roll out over a dozen or so sites.

“It would mean that we could look at loyalty offers and all the kinds of things that come with a brand that have never been right for Brakspear.”
