Stonegate Group has announced the appointment of David Roberts as property director.

He will oversee the group’s 4,500-plus pubs, having joined from the Co-op, where he was most recently managing director of Co-op Power, and previously managing director of Co-op Property.

Roberts fills the vacancy left by predecessor Nick Rockell following his untimely death at the end of May last year.

The role has been covered internally in the interim, with MCA’s Hero Award winner Suzanne Baker having stepped up to take on the duties of the property director in addition to her role as commercial director, which she will relinquish when he takes up the post.

Simon Longbottom, Stonegate Group chief executive, said: “David is a great appointment for Stonegate, both in terms of his commercial and property skills and in his fit with our culture and values.”

A start date has yet to be confirmed.
