Giraffe, the Tesco-owned restaurant operator, has appointed Will Franklin as its new finance director, M&C Report understands.

Franklin, who has worked in the finance department of Tesco since March 2006, replaces Paul Viner, who stepped down as chief financial officer at Giraffe last month.

The appointment of Franklin, who was until recently FP&A manager across Tesco’s casual dining division, comes as Giraffe gears up to open at the Extra stores in Inverness (6 October) and at York Tadcaster Road (27 October).

Last month, Andrew Jacobs, co-founder of Giraffe, was named as managing director of the group, replacing Russel Joffe, who announced his resignation along with his wife Juliette in July.

The 57-strong Giraffe recently converted a third site to its Burger & Cocktails format in Brighton and said it would consider further conversions to the format.
