Turkish bakery and tea chain Simit Sarayi has secured a site in Leicester Square, as it continues its expansion in the UK.

Located on the corner of Leicester Street and Leicester Square, the site will be its 12th in England, and follows its latest opening on Edgware Road earlier this year.

The global bakery chain is also in talks to buy an 85-strong package of sites in London, leading to speculation that the target may be EAT, as flagged up by MCA last month.

Even if the deal does not go through, the target is to reach 40 sites in London by the end of the year, Simit Sarayı chairman Abdullah Kavukcu told delegates at Turkey’s Uludağ Economy Summit, in April.
