Scottish & Newcastle Pub Company (S&NPC), the Heineken-owned leased pub operator, has introduced an in-pub mentoring scheme for new licensees
Staff training will also be included under the scheme, which is a follow up to S&NPC’s week-long induction course Innside Knowledge.
Under the scheme, S&NPC aims to visit most of those who have taken the induction course within the first three months in their pub. The programme is free and includes a one-to-one business review with an Innside Knowledge trainer as well as a beer quality training session in house.
The in-pub mentoring covers eight key areas from checking essential legal requirements such as staff to reviewing financial targets and performance. The trainers also complete a customer walk through of the pub and feedback on standards.
Meanwhile, the company is also launching a new guide for lessees on how to relaunch a pub business.
Chris Sladen, S&NPC’s head of business support, said: “Feedback from lessees in the trial was extremely positive with our trainers able to help them on a whole range of issues.
“We believe that undertaking a session such as this with an experienced industry professional in the first 12 weeks will be invaluable.”
