Richard Cousins, the new chief executive of Compass, has identified a number of areas where costs can be stripped out after going on a global tour of the £5.6bn catering group.
He will reassure the market this week that Compass, which he joined in June, is performing in line with forecasts in the second half of the year.
But he may wait until November before unveiling his strategy alongside full-year results.
There is speculation that 200 managers are being made redundant and the number of catering brands will be trimmed.
