Pieminister, the emerging pie shop brand, has secured its first site in the north west, after a taking a unit in Manchester.

The group, which last month launch its first bistro style bar and all-day café at its original site in Stokes Croft near Bristol, has taken the White Label Clothing unit in the city’s Church Street for what will be its ninth standalone site in total.

The group, which was established in 2003 by Bristolian entrepreneurs Jon Simon and Tristan Hogg, plans to double the size of its estate over the next four years, with London a primary focus for its expansion.

It has invested £200k in its new bistro-style outlet, which serves a wider menu as well as beer and cider.

Earlier this year, the company, which also has concessions in two pubs, reported a 28% increase in sales to £8.3m, for the year to 31 March 2012, with EBITDA up from £269k to £385k on the back of increasing customer penetration and new openings.

It also operates a site in Amsterdam, Holland.
