Papa Tony’s, the Glasgow-based Italian restaurant chain, is planning to invest £15m in expanding to 25 sites across Scotland and then into the rest of the UK over the next five years.

The group, which is led by Tony Hussain, Scotland’s Asian Businessman of the Year, is set to initial spend £2m on opening three more sites in Glasgow, to take its estate in the city to five.

It then intends to open in Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Dundee, before looking across the border at opportunities in Newcastle, Manchester and Leeds. Read more

Hussain, who launched the first Papa Tony’s last year, said: “Papa Tony’s is going to be a UK-wide brand. Within the next few months we will have five up and running in Glasgow and at least another 20 across Scotland and south of the border in the next five years.”

The entrepreneur also owns Cafe India in Glasgow’s Merchant City and has interests in more than 30 other restaurants across Scotland.
