Radio personality turned columnist Jimmy Young wants the drinking age raised to 21 and a clampdown on street boozing in a bid to curb Britain’s binge-drinking culture and the problems that go with it.
He says hopes that 24-hour licensing laws might change the nation’s drinking habits never materialised. But swingeing price increases on alcohol would be unfair on the moderate drinker.
