More councils have confirmed they are seeking to consult on adopting late-night levies (LNLs).
Gloucester City Council said a report proposing an LNL consultation will be submitted to its committee next Tuesday (18 June). If the committee agrees the proposal, the consultation will begin in early July.
And following a committee meeting on 24 April, the licensing team at Liverpool City Council has confirmed it has been asked to calculate levy figures and the possible income it will generate. Further information is expected later this month.
In Chelmsford, the licensing team has confirmed that there is a preference for a voluntary scheme.
However, if it can’t be agreed, then a LNL may be the next consideration. Malden District Council has also stated that it would prefer a voluntary scheme.
Meanwhile, both Camden and Islington councils said they are seeking more information on how LNL revenues would be spent.
