The British Hospitality Association (BHA) has partnered with Altus Group to provide advice to members on business rates.

The BHA said Altus would seek to help members reduce their business rates liability and update them on relevant changes to the business rates system.

David Shuttleworth, vice president ofAltus Group, said: “Our focus on professionalism, responsiveness and quality of service is why we are now one of the largest Business Rates specialists in the UK, with over 120 staff directly involved in Rating across 13 offices nationwide. We have generated business rates savings of over £400 million since April 2010, achieving an average reduction for our clients of over 16%. We also have the largest rent and rates database in the country which, when combined with our own analytical software, gives us a unique advantage to achieve better results for BHA members in the hospitality sector.

Phil Wade, marketing director of the BHA, said: “An increase to business rates from 2017 is one of the substantial challenges facing many of our members, especially considering the other cost-pressures our industry is already having to respond to. The experience of Altus and their analytic capability means they have both the comprehensive evidence on which to launch valid challenges and the insight so appeals are prosecuted at the most beneficial time. BHA members can contact us to arrange a free consultation on their situation at businessrates@bha.org.uk”
