Starbucks, the coffee bar giant, has signed a manufacturing and distribution deal with diary firm Arla Foods to launch two ready-to-drink coffee ranges into the UK market. Produced by Arla in Denmark, the Starbucks Discoveries and Starbucks Doubleshot espresso milk drink ranges will be sold in Starbucks cafes (from May) and through other retail outlets this month. Starbucks revealed plans to grow its business via non-store retail at its annual general meeting in Seattle last month. The corner stone of this strategy is the roll out of its instant coffee VIA globally. Rich DePencier, vice-president of Starbucks global consumer products international, said: “Starbucks global consumer products business allows us to extend the Starbucks experience to consumers beyond our coffee houses. “The success we have had bringing ready-to-drink coffees to consumers in North America and Asia demonstrates the global potential of the business and we are proud to join with Arla Foods to bring our premium ready-to-drink coffees to consumers in the UK.”
