Deliveroo has announced plans to expand its delivery-only kitchen initiative Editions to six new sites across London, providing nearly 50 new separate operator units in the process.

Sites are to launched in Whitechapel, Islington, Crouch End, Swiss Cottage, Bermondsey and Wimbledon.

MEATLiquor, Ahi Poke, Tommi’s Burger Joint, Busaba Eathai and Mother Clucker are all set to in at least one of the new sites.

At the same time, Lievita, a popular restaurant from Milan is set to open its first two UK kitchens in the Islington and Swiss Cottage sites, marking the first time an international Deliveroo restaurant has been able to enter the UK through Editions.

Rohan Pradhan from Deliveroo said: “Deliveroo is on a mission to create the best food delivery service in the world, one way we’re achieving this is through Deliveroo Editions. We couple our world class British-built technology with unique consumer data that allows us to deploy specific restaurants in areas of high demand where we are confident they will succeed.”

Maestro Pizzaiolo Giorgio Caruso from Lievità said: “Lievità has been successfully working with Deliveroo in Italy since 2015. Now Deliveroo Editions will enable our brand a simple and smart route-to-market across cities around the world that are passionate about great food. We’re excited to launch our first delivery-only kitchen in London and strongly believe in Deliveroo’s vision of creating the best food delivery service in the world.”

The London expansion follows Deliveroo’s acquisition of Maple, a New York-based food delivery company, where Maple’s technology and some of their team are now in place to help drive the Deliveroo Editions platform across the globe.

The new sites will not only benefit hungry customers and restaurants, but local economies too, as the 49 kitchens will create 150 jobs in London.
