Deliveroo has reported a 650% rise in orders in 2016 and announced plans to hire 300 new “high-skilled, high-tech” employees.

It will mean the firm increasing its headcount by almost a third and will include recruitment in software engineering and algorithm development

Chief executive Will Shu said: “London is where I founded this company and it’s from our headquarters here that we export our British-born technology around the world. That’s why we’re now on the lookout for more than 300 people to join our engineering team.”

“When so many of the success stories in the on-demand economy have been grown from America, I am particularly proud to be doing this here in Britain.”

The group is in the process of rapidly expanding its RooBox remote kitchen concept, with plans to take the concept nationwide this year.
