Camile Food Group has partnered with US ghost kitchen operator Kitchen United MIX, in order to launch its Camile Thai brand in the United States.

The first dark kitchen will open within Kitchen United’s multi-concept kitchens in Chicago, as a delivery and takeaway-only concept, at the newly opened Chicago Loop Kitchen Center.

New locations are then expected to follow in Chicago River North, Pasadena, California and Austin, Texas.

Dublin-based Camile Thai launched in 2010 and has since opened in 40 locations across the UK and Ireland. In April this year in announced that it had teamed up with Reef Technologies to open a new dark kitchen in Canary Wharf, as it looks to grow its presence in the delivery-only space.

Camile Thai CEO, Brody Sweeney said the pandemic had altered how restaurants operate and has given the go-ahead for virtual kitchens to flourish.

“We are excited to bring our concept to the US and work closely with Kitchen United given its definitive leadership position in the ghost kitchen industry, along with an impressive list of existing and prospective operator partners,” he commented.

Kitchen United has plans to open more ghost kitchen locations this year, expanding to and in existing markets including Los Angeles, Austin and New York City.
