German coffee-bar chain Tchibo is to break into the UK. The retailer wants to open 200 stores over the next few years. It already has 1,000 company-owned outlets in Germany and another 2,000 in eight other continental countries, mainly concessions in shopping centres.

Tchibo's plan includes opening 20 shops in locations around the M25 by the middle of next year.It has two sites under offer, in the Queensmere shopping centre in Slough and at the Liberty centre in Romford.
