Starbucks has announced that it has postponed its entry into India indefinitely, after reports suggested problems had arisen between the company and its proposed local franchise partners. In May the company announced it aimed to open the first of a 100 planned outlets in India by the end of 2007. However, a company spokesperson said: “Starbucks Coffee International decided to postpone our entry into India “We are reviewing all our options and evaluating how we will proceed.” The company announced yesterday that it had entered into an agreement with the Hershey Company to launch new premium chocolate products. The drinks chain will serve beverages that combine chocolate and coffee flavours, as well as fruits, nuts, herbs and spices. The products, which will be marketed in US outlets of Starbucks from autumn this year, will also be sold in other retail outlets.
