Update 1 Low Carb Bistro-Deli, the Hungarian health food brand endorsed by tennis star Andre Agassi, is opening its first site in London’s Walthamstow next week as part of a UK-wide roll-out plan to have up to 50 sites by 2019.

The first site, to open at 88 High Street in Walthamstow under franchise, will be followed by another four franchise units in the next six months including locations in Farringdon and Angel.

The group, set up by Norbi Ferenc Schobert in 2004 in Hungary, has recruited tennis star Andre Agassi as brand ambassador for the UK, Austria, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Serbia and Romania.

The delis will include a bakery, gluten-free pizzas, organic coffee and healthy fast food ranges such as low-fat burgers and pizzas.

The company has more than 100 stores across Europe and is eyeing global expansion following floatation in Hungary in September valued at £15.8m.

Update 1 aims to address the worldwide obesity epidemic without forcing people to give up their favorite foods by making healthier versions. An online store will be launched shortly.
