The UK food to go market is forecast to grow by 4.1% in 2023, to reach a total value of £22bn, according to a new report from Lumina Intelligence.

In its newly launched Food to Go Market Report 2023, Lumina assess the factors impacting the market and consumer behaviour, particularly in the wake of the cost of living.

The market has seen a continued uptick in travel and footfall, which paired with high inflation will drive growth this year.

The market is also expected to see its strongest outlet growth since before the pandemic, pandemic in 2023F, at +0.9% - a net gain of +1,397 to 152,120 sites.

Other key findings in the report are that the squeeze on consumer spending is prompting tangible changes in consumer behaviour, with consumers increasingly identifying as very value-led, with treat and route food to go missions in decline across several day parts.
