Shares in Whitbread, worth 1887p this week, are being tipped by brokers on rumours that the company is a bid target.
The company has already received proposals from prospective purchasers of its David Lloyd Leisure group. The former brewer also owns Premier Travel Inns, Costa Coffee, and various pub restaurants.
