SABMiller has refused to comment on a report in the Financial Times that it is hoping to take control of Colombian drinks company Grupo Empresarial Bavaria in a $9bn (£4.8bn) deal.
InBev, Ambev and Heineken are also rumoured to be interested in the group.
Bavaria has denied that it is up for sale, although sources close to the business claim that it is considering a merger or alliance with a global brewer.
