Soft drinks company Britvic has announced that former Diageo GB managing director Simon Litherland is to become the first head of its British arm. Litherland takes the new position of GB managing director of Britvic Soft Drinks, the company’s British business, on 4 October. Having a dedicated MD for Britain marks a departure for Britvic. Previously Paul Moody, chief executive of parent company Britvic PLC, oversaw the British operation. The move follows similar action by Britvic in its Ireland and France divisions. Moody said: “I am delighted that Simon is joining Britvic. He brings a wealth of experience, having performed a similar role at Diageo. “The creation of the post of a GB managing director is a step forward for Britvic, giving the GB business a tighter focus and allowing the group executive committee to concentrate on our strategy of growing internationally both through acquisitions and extending existing franchise agreements.” Litherland said: “Britvic Soft Drinks has the widest soft drinks portfolio in Britain, with favourites such as Robinsons, J2O, Fruit Shoot and Pepsi, and has demonstrated a great commitment to constant product innovation. I am looking forward to playing my part in strengthening the business.”
