A complaint that a cartoon cut-out of a blonde on a beer pump was not wearing any knickers has been rejected by the Portman Group. Alcohol Concern claimed it appeared the logo for Dorothy Goodbody, stout made by the Wye Valley Brewery in Herefordshire, was sexually suggestive and “hinted at a lack of undergarments”. But an undercover investigation concluded that the “complainant’s imagination had got the better of them” and there was no reason to assume that “slightly saucy” Dorothy had forgotten to put her drawers on. The label, they added, had been intended to capture the spirit and fun of 1950s rural Herefordshire. The Times 01/03/08 page 28
