The Gate, the award-winning restaurant concept, which specialises in vegetarian food, is to open its third site in London, after securing a site in Marylebone, MCA understands.
The concept, which is led by Adrian and Michael Daniel, has secured the Lockhart restaurant unit in Seymour Place for an opening later this year.
The company currently operates site in Hammersmith and Islington. It has been running London’s most successful vegetarian restaurant since December 1989.
The Lockhart, which opened in Marylebone in 2013, was launched by husband and wife team Gwen and Chris Wren as London’s first upscale restaurant based on a modern take on cuisine from Mexico and the US south west.
The 75-cover restaurant launched on the site of George Ngyutin’s seafood restaurant and fishmonger Seaport at The Portman Estate’s 24 Seymour Place W1.
New York chef Brad McDonald, who took over the kitchen at The Lockhart in 2014, launched Shotgun BBQ, which is backed by the Wrens, in Kingly Street last August.
Charles Cohen at CB Associates acted on the Marylebone deal.
